تقوم العلاقات الإنسانية على الثقة والصدق والوفاء بالوعود. فعندما يلتزم الإنسان بكلمته، يشعر الآخرون بالأمان ويزداد الاحترام المتبادل بينهم. وقد اهتم الإسلام بهذا الخُلُق العظيم، وجعل الوفاء بالعهد من علامات الأخلاق الحسنة التي ينبغي للمسلم أن يتحلّى بها في حياته اليومية.
Human relationships are built on trust, honesty, and keeping promises. When a person stands by their word, others feel secure, and mutual respect grows. Islam places great importance on this noble virtue and teaches Muslims to honor their commitments in everyday life.
قال الله تعالى:
﴿وَأَوْفُوا بِالْعَهْدِ إِنَّ الْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْئُولًا﴾
[سورة الإسراء: 34]
توجّهنا هذه الآية الكريمة إلى ضرورة الوفاء بالعهود، وتذكّرنا بأن الإنسان مسؤول عن التزاماته وأقواله. فالكلمة ليست أمرًا عابرًا، بل قد تتعلق بها حقوق الآخرين وثقتهم ومصالحهم، ولذلك ينبغي للمسلم أن يفكّر قبل أن يعد، وأن يحرص على الوفاء بما التزم به.
Allah says in the Holy Qur’an: “And fulfill every commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever questioned.” (Surah Al-Isra, 17:34)
This noble verse teaches us the importance of honoring commitments and reminds us that we are accountable for our promises and words. A promise is not merely a passing statement; it may affect the rights, trust, and interests of others. Muslims should therefore think carefully before making promises and strive to fulfill them.
يظهر الوفاء بالعهد في مواقف كثيرة من حياتنا؛ في احترام المواعيد، وأداء الأمانات، والالتزام بالاتفاقات، والصدق في التعامل مع الأسرة والأصدقاء والجيران. وقد تكون بعض الوعود بسيطة في نظر صاحبها، لكنها تعني الكثير لشخص ينتظر الوفاء بها.
Keeping promises appears in many aspects of daily life: respecting appointments, returning what has been entrusted to us, honoring agreements, and being honest with family, friends, and neighbors. Some promises may seem small to the person who makes them, yet they can mean a great deal to someone who depends on them.
من الحكمة ألّا يتسرّع الإنسان في إعطاء الوعود لمجرد إرضاء الآخرين. فإذا لم يكن متأكدًا من قدرته على تنفيذ أمر ما، فمن الأفضل أن يوضّح موقفه بصدق بدلًا من أن يعطي وعدًا لا يستطيع الوفاء به. فالصدق منذ البداية يحفظ العلاقات من خيبة الأمل، ويجعل الثقة أكثر رسوخًا.
Wisdom teaches us not to make promises hastily just to please others. If we are unsure whether we can do something, it is better to explain our situation honestly rather than make a promise we may not be able to keep. Honesty from the beginning protects relationships from disappointment and helps trust grow stronger.
قد يواجه الإنسان ظروفًا غير متوقعة تمنعه من الوفاء بوعد قطعه. وفي هذه الحالة، ينبغي له أن يوضّح السبب بصدق، وأن يعتذر لمن تأثر بالأمر، وأن يسعى إلى إصلاح ما يمكن إصلاحه. فالمسؤولية لا تعني الادعاء بأننا لا نخطئ أبدًا، بل تعني الاعتراف بالخطأ والتعامل معه بأمانة.
Sometimes, unexpected circumstances prevent a person from keeping a promise. In such cases, they should explain the reason honestly, apologize to anyone affected, and try to make things right. Responsibility does not mean pretending that we never make mistakes; it means acknowledging them and responding with integrity.
إن الوفاء بالعهد ليس مجرد عادة اجتماعية، بل هو خُلُق يعكس صدق الإنسان واحترامه لحقوق الآخرين. وكلما حرص المسلم على أن تكون أقواله موافقة لأفعاله، ساهم في نشر الثقة والطمأنينة داخل أسرته ومجتمعه، وقدم صورة جميلة عن أخلاق الإسلام.
Keeping promises is more than a social habit; it reflects honesty and respect for the rights of others. When Muslims strive to make their actions match their words, they help spread trust and reassurance within their families and communities and demonstrate the beauty of Islamic character.
اللهم ارزقنا صدق القول والعمل، وأعنّا على الوفاء بعهودنا وأداء أماناتنا، واجعلنا من أهل الصدق والإحسان، وحسّن أخلاقنا، واهدنا إلى ما تحب وترضى.
O Allah, grant us honesty in our words and actions. Help us fulfill our commitments and honor the trusts placed in us. Make us among those who are truthful and excel in doing good, improve our character, and guide us to what You love and are pleased with.
آمين يا رب العالمين. | Ameen, Lord of all worlds.
